EXTENSIVE COOPERATION RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TUEBA AND ASIA UNIVERSITY (TAIWAN)

       Asia University (AU) is an university located in Taichung, Republic of China (Taiwan). The university was founded in 2001 and specializes in training in medical and health sciences, computer science and electrical engineering, creative design, management, humanities and social sciences. Ranked in the top 10 universities in Taiwan, it is also an important partner of Thai Nguyen University of Economics & Business Administration over the years.

 In 2018, two universities officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the two sides, which regulated many important contents relating to staff mobility, students exchange and cooperation in research… Since  this significant milestone, many cooperation activities between the two universities have been carried out so far.

In January 2018,  Prof. Li- Shiue Gau, Faculty of Entertainment and Recreation Management (AU)  with a group of TUEBA lecturers jointly participated in a study on “Evaluating the influence of cultural values ​​and importance of leisure activities to tourism competition and participation in sports activities in Taiwan and Vietnam”. TUEBA researchers are: Dr. Pham Van Hanh - Dean of Faculty of Business Administration, Dr. Nguyen Bich Hong – Deputy Head of Science, Technology & International Cooperation Department, Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan Anh – Deputy Head of the Training Department (Thai Nguyen University), lecturer at Faculty of Business Administration (TUEBA); Dr. Pham Thuy Duong - Lecturer of the Faculty of Basic Science. The research project was coordinated by Assoc. Prof. Do Anh Tai, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chancellor. The result published at 03 international conferences and there was 01 international journal paper (2019).

          Following the success of the project, in 2020, a group of researchers including: Dr. Nguyen Bich Hong, Dr. Pham Thuy Duong (TUEBA), Professor Li Shie - Gau (Asia University, Taiwan) Professor Jong-Chae Kim (Fairleigh Dickinson University, USA) jointly conducted a study on the influence of personality and cultural values ​​perception to sports diversity at universities in Taiwan, USA and Vietnam. The research results have been published in an international journal of the SSCI category (2020).

          In addition, the two university have also actively promoted the staff mobility between the two sides with many lecturers.

          In the year 2019 - 2020, Dr. Pham Thuy Duong (TUEBA) has taught for the Master's program in Tourism and Hospitality Management (AU) about the development trends of the entertainment and tourism industry. In this school year, she also participated in external assessment for 74 undergraduate students majoring in Tourism Management and became the international judge for AU's  Professional English of Tourism. It is expected that in May 2021, she  will conduct online teaching for AU masters students majoring in Tourism and Hospitality Management about the topic "Systemic thinking in travel and tourism service design in the context of the Covid pandemic”. In June 2021, Asia University continues to send an invitation to MS. Pham Minh Huong - lecturer of Faculty of Marketing - Commerce & Tourism. The content is expected to be about the development of community-based tourism and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on tourism in Vietnam and the world.

          In addition, in 2021, Professor Li – Shie Gau (Faculty of Entertainment and Recreation Management) also accepted the invitation of TUEBA to teach online for students of TUEBA’s high quality program.

          The relationship between the two universities is continuously tightened through a range of cooperative activities. The aspects of cooperation are diverse such as staff mobility, cooperation in research and teaching. All above activities not only strengthen the relationship between the two sides but also enhance the capacity of lecturers and researchers of two sides. It is hoped that in the future, this cooperation relationship will continue to be strengthened,  promoted to bring more opportunities for their staffs and researchers in order to enhance the quality of training quality of both sides in the context of deep, wide and substantive international integration.
