TUEBA History at a Glance

Thai Nguyen University of Economics and Business Administration, which is a member university of Thai Nguyen University, was established under Decision 136/2004/QĐ-TTg of the Prime Minister dated on 02/08 /2004 based on the merger of the Faculty of Agricultural Economics of the University of Agriculture and Forestry and the Faculty of Industrial Economics of the University of Industrial Technology.

Established in the context of facing competition with many existing universities in the field of economics and management in the national education system, the University of Economics and Business Administration has developed a unique direction that differentiates others from training and research. The university was determined to take quality as the primary objective, not to offer too many training programs in the field of economics but focus on building and developing programs that were needed to serve the requirements of the industrialization, modernization and international economic integration of the country.

So far after more than 12 years of establishment, the University of Economics and Business Administration has become a dynamic, vibrant university, actively involved in international integration and has developed rapidly with prestige in the country and in international community.

On early days of establishment, the University of Economics and Business Administration had only 03 faculties and 04 functional departments with a total of 123 staff and lecturers. So far, the University has expanded with 07 faculties, 08 functional departments and 09 training and research supporting units (centers) with a total of 492 staff and lecturers.

At the time of its establishment, the university had only five undergraduate programs and one master’s degree program. Currently, the university’s training capacity is more than 10,000 students. The university has developed 27 undergraduate programs including three high quality training programs with instructions in English, three master programs and two doctoral programs. In addition, the university offers four international degree programs with partner universities from Korea, the Philippines and China, two joint-training master programs and one joint-training doctoral program with the University of Central Philippines. The university also provides pre-university and business Vietnamese language training programs for international students.

From 2004 up to now, the university has been carrying out hundreds of research and technology transfer projects and has held hundreds of conferences, seminars and workshops in the country and internationally. The university is publishing its scientific journal with ISSN called Journal of Economics and Business Administration.

The University of Economics and Business Administration attaches great importance to the development of international cooperation programs in order to improve the quality of training, to receive innovative training technology, to develop a contingent of researchers and promote scientific research, academic exchange and access to international economic, scientific and educational development projects. Current partners of the university are from East Asia, South East Asia, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Spain and the United States, etc. In the near future, the university continues to expand diverse relationships with many other international partners which are universities, research institutes, economic organizations, cultural and educational institutions and non-government organizations around the world.

Development orientation of the university in the coming years

In the coming years, the University of Economics and Business Administration continues to strive to become a high quality research university at the same standard as the advanced universities in the country and in the region. In the coming time, the orientation of the university will aims to:

– Continue renovating university administration, formulating mechanisms and policies so that the university continues to steadily develop to pursue the planned objectives set in the strategic plans;

– Always consider attracting, using, training and developing high quality human resources as a prerequisite for the university to achieve the set objectives. In particular, the university is developing innovative high quality training programs with instructions in English, working with advanced international universities, to attract international students and through the programs the university aims to enhance teaching and researching capacity of its staff and lecturers;

– Continue actively integrate into the community of universities, research institutes and enterprises in the country and in the world to exploit the power of the times, to reach the high excellence in quality of education and training, research and technology transfer;

– Promote all internal and external resources for staff development, facilities investment and in-depth investment projects to serve the teaching, learning, and doing research, effectively exploit the existing facilities and continue to build the new campus.
